WASHINGTON BORO UMC

Welcome to Washington Boro U.M.C.

Family – Where is family?
Family is where you walk in the door and kick off your shoes, lay your coat on the chair and sigh with relief because you are home. You open the refrigerator door and ask, ‘What’s to eat?’ There is no longer a need to carry the aching expression on your face when your spirit is crumbling – they understand.

Family - Who is family?
Family are the people who know you. You no longer have to prove that you are somebody you are not. You no longer have to prove that your world is not moving along as you expect. You don’t have to tell them – they get it.

Family – What is expected of family?
No expectations... Acceptance for each individual's unique qualities! Relax and enjoy the conversation or join when you feel like it. Work together and enjoy the fellowship as the tasks are completed. A family uses everyone’s talents and abilities – they will wait until you want to share – they are there for each other.

You are invited to become part of the family at Washington Boro UMC. Welcome!
We would like to make our family your family; sharing the joys, experiences, trials, and love with you and yours. Together we learn to become the family of God.

This amazing stained glass window was designed and created by Joan Todd. It was consecrated and installed in January, 2009 in the Fellowship Center in celebration and remembrance of  God's grace and what a small congregation can accomplish in unity under His guidance. The Flame and Cross represents the United Methodist Church.

God is awesome in His Sanctuary. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God! Psalm 68:35

Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Revelation 3:20

There are eleven stained glass windows in the Sanctuary and each window visualizes a Scriptural theme.
The window at the pulpit has an open Bible and a Cross. The Bible and the Cross are preached on this pulpit. At night – the outside light shines through the Bible into the dark Sanctuary informing you that Jesus is the Word of God and the Light of the world.

The remaining glass windows each indicate a lesson -
  1. Bible, Oil Candle – The Old Testament and Covenants
  2. Bunch of Grapes – History of Israelites in Canaan
  3. Cross, Crown of Thorns, Chalice – Remember Jesus through Communion
  4. Wheat – Jesus is the Bread of Life
  5. The Crown and Palm Leaf – The people wanted Jesus as their earthly King
  6. The Cross – Jesus died for your sins
  7. The Crown and the Cross – Jesus has given you victory over sin
  8. The Crown – Jesus is King of your life
  9. The Dove – The Holy Spirit is within you
  10. The Harp – Our Eternal Heavenly Home
